A. Introduction
Scientific publication ethics serve as a crucial foundation for maintaining academic integrity. The Journal of Islamic Studies – Institut Agama Islam Al-Zaytun Indonesia is committed to upholding the values of honesty, objectivity, and academic responsibility. These guidelines are designed to govern the behavior of all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher.
B. Author Ethics
Reporting Standards
Authors must present research findings honestly, accurately, and objectively. All data and information must be reported thoroughly to allow for verification and replication by other researchers.
Data Access and Retention
Authors are required to provide the raw data related to the manuscript for editorial and peer review purposes. Where possible, the data should be openly accessible and retained for a reasonable period after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original and free from any form of plagiarism. All citations and references must be properly acknowledged and cited.
Multiple or Concurrent Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is not permitted. Manuscripts containing substantially similar research content must not be published in other journals.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must give proper credit and include references to the scholarly work of others that has influenced their research.
Authorship and Contributions
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and its submission to the journal.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, whether financial or non-financial, that may affect the research findings.
Significant Errors
If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obliged to promptly notify the editor for correction or retraction of the article.
Research Ethics and Safety
Research involving humans, animals, or hazardous materials must be clearly described in the manuscript, including evidence of adherence to ethical standards (e.g., ethical approval or informed consent).
C. Editor Ethics
Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
Evaluate manuscripts solely based on academic merit and relevance, regardless of the authors’ background.
Avoid misuse of unpublished material for personal gain.
Ensure that the peer review process is fair, objective, and conducted in a timely manner.
D. Reviewer Ethics
Evaluate manuscripts objectively, scientifically, and constructively.
Maintain confidentiality and refrain from sharing or discussing the manuscript contents.
Decline to review if there is any conflict of interest.
Provide constructive feedback to support the improvement of the manuscript.
E. Publisher Ethics
As the journal’s publisher, Institut Agama Islam Al-Zaytun Indonesia is committed to maintaining academic reputation, supporting academic freedom, and upholding the integrity of scholarly publishing through fair and transparent editorial policies.
F. Handling Ethical Violations
All suspected violations of publication ethics will be taken seriously. The editor has the right to take necessary actions, including manuscript rejection, article retraction, or reporting the issue to the authors' affiliated institutions.
